Imo, there is no best. Everything has its place. Melandrus is only good against daze, balt increases run speed/melee damage and is the most versatile imo, lyssa is just wow if your attacking somebody spamming skills, with grenth if your attacking somebody using a lot of enchants they are gonna be pissed, dwayna heals you rediculous amounts if your spamming skills like you should be.
Give Anet credit they did a hell of a job making every one of the god forms have its own place to dominate.
PERSONALLY I think they should weaken them and make them maintainable. Like at 12 mysticism is lasts 30 seconds with 30s recharge.

Only good against daze?
What about deep wound as well, its so freaken hard to kill one of these... +200hp and deep wound doesnt effect them.

I really like how the Grenth one looks but, the most functional one, in my opinion, has to be the Balthazar one. Nothing like +33% faster run, holy damage, and +40 armor for 64 seconds.

Lyssa is the one I like the best, but Melandru's is a close second, and is probably the most useful for tanking.

Melendaru, no conditions + 200hp vs Lyssa with +dmg vs skill.
Its an easy choice to see that the most used will be
Grenth
Melendaru
Balthazar
The two others are pretty weak because they have conditions to get their effect.

hmm normally i don't bother hitting on the dervish first cuz they are fairly hard to kill in the right hands and if there's a monk on their team, gonna kill em first, with grenth, prot monks will have a hell of a time kepping everything up

Melandru, I hate being bothered with conditions....the extra HP is good in a jam.
There's nothing wrong with the forms, they're Elite Skills that last 40 seconds with a huge recharge. If you're going to balence the Dervish, Don't touch the forms.

Used Dwayna most, extra healing and stripping the hexes from the Mesmers and Necro's who thought they could just come and farm themselves some Dervish.
For PvE, I can see myself changing Avatar based on types of enemies a lot. Each Avatar has strong points going for them.

I'd say in HA you can really use the grenth avatar, because people stack 15 million enchants on ghostly.
I find these avatars grossly overpowered in AB and arenas.

600hp with armour and vigor rune, 200 from melandrus, and 250 odd from endure pain
that will teach those annoying warriors lol

Forms are not enchantments they are Elite Forms. Also anything with extend enchantments will not last more than 20 seconds since when it ends it removes all enchantments.
If you have a good running buff on your team Melandru is your man. No blind/cripple/deep wound/degen is so awsome. With that +200hp he is impossible to spike.
If you are flag running Balthazar. A full minute 33% faster will get you morale boost so fast its not funny. Also very good if you are being ganked and need to get back quickly. Balthazar is really the best to me. We are used to running a draw conditions or smiter so conditions are not that big of a deal. The +40 armor completely negates the low armor that dervishes have. The running speed keeps the pressure up on a party.
Grenth is very good but limited at the same time. It only hits 1 target per attack skill. Sythe attack skills are not very good. Most of them req you to remove an enchantment. With another type of weapon its great. Too good in fact. Called shot anyone. 2 second recharge 5e and cannot miss its target. I expect this to be changed to only sythe attacks.
